Catholic Church Radio Network Shut Down

The Philippines failed to renew the Church’s license to operate at least 54 radio stations (here). Catholic sources claim religious persecution. The only government spokesman they interviewed said “inaction on the bishops' application [for renewal] was due to the number of applications the legislative body had to attend to and it was ‘still awaiting hearing.’”

There is a serious lack of credibility here. Some of the Church’s radio stations are still operating. What will happen after they are all closed? Why does the Church need 54 radio stations in the Philippines? How about using the money to feed the poor? Not only is that the more Christian thing to do, it probably makes for better PR as well.
