“Don’t say we haven’t done anything about child abuse!”

During a show at Loyola University, a Catholic institution, a comic did a routine about the school’s morals clause in its contract with him and the Church’s epidemic of priestly child abuse. They shut off his microphone (here). This is consistent with long-standing Church policy.

The Church has long had a stringent policy regarding child abuse, one which it strictly enforces. Anyone blowing the whistle on a child-abuser or on the cover-up of his crimes is guilty of scandalizing the Church. Whistleblowers are treated far more harshly than child abusers. Don’t say the Church has done nothing about child abuse! You just don’t understand their divinely inspired priorities and policies.
