Pope Francis Flunks Transparency Again
The Attorney General of Pennsylvania asked Pope Francis to authorize the release of a grand jury report on priestly sex abuse of children (Will Pope Francis practice what he preaches?). Neither Pope Francis nor the Vatican bothered to respond to the request, not only flunking common courtesy, but more importantly, flunking the standards of transparency that he always proclaims. It is now too late. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has just rejected the Church’s attempt to suppress the report – “Grand jury report for Pennsylvania abuse cases ordered released by Aug. 14.”
While the Church just released a list containing names of 71 pederast priests, the report discusses over 300. Not only was a list of names insufficient to begin with, the Church somehow dropped three-quarters of the names, continuing its incredibly shameful track record.
